Isetenkheb was the daughter of Ankhsyeniset, a priest of Amun living in Thebes - the 'City Of Dead'. Her mummy, dating back between 664 - 500 BC, is on display today at the Museum of Fine Arts in Lyon, but Isetenkheb's unique coffin needs restoration. Through interviews with experts, art curators and restorers, we follow the work of restoring it to its former glory and learn more about how it came from Egypt to Lyon. Follow the amazing restoration process of one of the most cherished and mysterious pieces of History: an Egyptian sarcophagus covered with hieroglyphics. Adorned with gold accents and vibrant colors, the craftsmanship showcases the prestige and reverence held for this noble individual. The delicate detailing around the face, especially the golden mask and intricate jewelry, reflects the Egyptian belief in beauty and eternal life. Isetenkheb's sarcophagus is a remarkable piece of history, representing the wealth and artistry of the time. The painted wooden casing, in human form, helped to preserve the integrity of the body, an essential element for rebirth in the afterlife. The motifs painted on the inside and outside of the tub and the lid contributed to its magical protection. Found in one of Egypt's grand burial sites, this artifact continues to inspire awe with its elegance and the stories it holds about Egypt's powerful rulers.
